Recent Shows - 2003 summer seasonHamletBy William Shakespeare, Directed and Reinterpreted by Melon Wedick, Aug.8 - 10, 2003 When the prince of Denmark returns from school to find his father murdered and his mother remarried to his uncle, his quest for revenge leads to murder, mayhem, and the destruction of the kingdom. An unconventional presentation of one of Shakespeare's most beloved tragedies. Love's Labours Lostby William Shakespeare, directed by Elizabeth Martin, July 19 - 27, 2003 When a king decides his court must be female-free for his courtiers to truly concentrate on their studies, he doesn't take into account the beautiful French princess coming as an emissary to his court, bringing her serving ladies - and certain temptation - with her. Comic mix-ups and the battle of the sexes are the order of the day in this story of lovers and fools, directed by Elizabeth Martin. Macbethby William Shakespeare, directed by Lauren Hynek, June 28 - July 6, 2003 Politics, murder, and witchcraft dominate the Scottish Play, one of Shakespeare's most popular and fast-paced shows. When three witches tell Macbeth he will become King, he concieves a plan to murder his way to the throne - and his wife, Lady Macbeth, conspires with him. Conscience is Macbeth's enemy and prophecy his undoing in this dark, exciting classic. Twelfth Nightby William Shakespeare, directed by Wyckham Avery, June 7 - 15, 2003 When a shipwrecked woman washes up on a strange island bereft of her twin brother, she takes refuge in a false identity to get her bearings. Little does she know, false appearances are the norm for this Island of Misrule. The fool is king in this topsy-turvy comedy by William Shakespeare -- with court jesters as philosophers, princesses as messengers, Queens in hiding and endless hijinks among the servants. GSF Outreach ProgramsSummer Intensive WorkshopsIn an effort to give local kids a real opportunity this summer, we are now offering week long intensive workshops (July 7-12th) for teenagers in the afternoon (1-4pm), and for kids (ages 8-12) in the morning (10am -12pm). Classes in acting, improvisation, movement, voice and stage combat will be taught by our company of actors and directors. The summer intensive will end with a showcase for family and friends on July 12th. Workshops are free for teens and $50 for younger kids - please email us if you'd like more information or to sign up. InternshipsThis season, GSF has a limited number of internships available. Young people from the age of 16 to 20 will have the opportunity to spend their summer assisting our professionals in the areas of Acting, Directing, and Stage Management. Please contact us for an application. School WorkshopsGSF will come into your school for free throughout the rest of this 2002-03 school year.
